Anak Saya Ti Ti Hao

When I was young, my tuition teacher given me a Malay essay (Karangan) ｔｉｔｌｅ: "Anjing saya" (My dog). Immediately I say "Anjing saya ti ti bui" (which mix Malay language and Hokkien carry the meaning my dog always bark. Today I flash back my kids story and apply on my new born baby, "Anak Saya ti ti hao" (My son always cry).

I was covering a wedding event today, but my son was crying the for 3 hrs none stop since 11 pm last night until 2.30am in the morning. And I have to wake up at 6.30am in the morning to prepare myself for the shooting. Left 4 hours sleeping time. When I was covering the wedding event, whenever I see a cute little baby.... it always reminds me of him.... miss him so much...

Chong Hee's new milk bottle

You can see that we had already start using our new milk bottle to feed our baby, Chong Hee. It looks weird compare to the normal milk bottle. We change from the normal ordinary milk bottle, to a double layer milk bottle and finally change to spoon milk bottle. The reason for us to change is to make the baby difficult to drink formula milk. So that baby will love natural breast feeding more. The double layer milk bottle still not as good as the spoon feed bottle. Double layer milk flow still flow faster compare to the natural breastfeeding. End we do use natural spoon feed. But due to the difficulty in spoon feed, we had bough this spoon milk bottle. It has a tinny hole on the spoon that allow the milk to flow from the milk bottle. Thus when we were doing the spoon feeding, the just put the spoon on his mouth and slowly press the milk bottle and allow the milk flow to the spoon to feed the baby.







We are very thankful to the nurse from Adventist Hospital, Pai Lim who has recommend the Bebe's Home shop that sell a lot of both baby and mommy accessories.

Mother in-law in action

My mother in-law is in action taking care of the baby.... Give us a hand and we will be far more release. Thanks for your time in Penang helping to take care of the baby, my wife and my son. At least I dun have to rush back home to bath for the baby during my lunch hour.

Mother's care

The mother's chair with the mother sitting on top of it, carrying Chong Hee.

Mother's care... during the month of maternity, mother give maximum time to their babies. Similarly, my wife is giving her full time and full attention to the baby. Mother's care, mother's milk, best milk ever to the baby. This enable to build up baby's anti body. During the confinement month, mother eat the best food every to build up a strong body and prepare for the next planned baby. All the nutritious food goes into her body, build a stronger anti body, and eventually it will have some nutrition to the mother's milk. And they share the same nutrition.



When the mother meets the son more often, eventually their bond is closer. When the baby is with the mom, they feel comfort, warm and secure. Although I love to take care of baby, sometimes I feel my son is more comfort carried by me, but I still think Chong Hee will love his mom more. Sometimes he request to do breastfeeding for him to sleep. Enjoy the photo of my son Chong Hee for today.

It was like a Chong Hee Open Day on 23-10-2011

After buying some raw material from the market together with my mom, the Chong Hee Open Day has begun. Without any appointment or discussion, they all came to my house together to visit my son Chong Hee. My auntie, followed by my brother in-law, my in-law, my cousins and her colleague came 1 shot. Starting to buy since 12am until 4pm, skip my lunch but was happy that they fell up my house with joy and happiness. You can see that his present and ang pao has already fill up part of my room corner.

Hee Smile :D

Hee has learn to smile since he was 4 day old. But I was unable to snap his smiling face. He only smile once a while and very short smile. Sometimes the camera is on our hand, but we still not manage to capture his smiling moment. This time my wife was trying to capture his smiling movement by using video cam and she did it. Well done Mei Nai. Daddy is waiting to smile together with you...

Everyday is a learning day...

I never like to carry a newborn baby. As I am very worry that my carelessness will injure the baby's neck. Today, I am the father of a 14 days old baby, Chong Hee has been bathing for baby the second time. Learning process is happening everyday. Usually his grandma will bath for him, but very unfortunate that his grandma fall sick, while the mother is unable to touch water under Chinese tradition confinement care practice. Thus I have to bath for my son.

I carried him on my left, supporting his head to prevent his neck injury. Wipe his face with a wet cloth, then wet his hair with my hand. Need to be careful on his ear to prevent water from dripping in. After that Shampoo his head and wash it away with a wet cloth. Dry his hair before we proceed to the next step.

Wet his heart with the warm water to let him know that we are going to put him into the "baby pool". My son always cry when he is naked, never the less when we bath him. So this time I try to support his front body by letting his back face up. Supported him with my left hand, especially his neck and my right hand was begin to clean his body with bath shampoo and water. As I was bathing for him, I sing along to calm him down. Make sure every part of his body is clean, then removed him from the pail and put him into the tower. Thankfully he did not cry as hard as previous. Hope he will learn to love to bath one day.

Something happen cute today, after clean up, cover him with tower, when we were try to put on diapers for him, suddenly there is a sound "plak"! OMG!!!! He had pass motion on the tower.....

The mother's chair

Usually we see CEO chair or Director chair... but this one I name it Mother Chair. This chair came to my mind when I was sitting on the wooden stool while uploading my blog. Feel that my back bone is very painful after "long minutes" sitting. And I am sure she is also facing the same problem especially when she needs to use the laptop and had her meals during the confinement period.

After going into my customer side to sit on their meeting room chair, I find that the chair has more than its functionality as office chair. A CEO chair may cost RM 600 to RM 1.5k. But what we need is just a home use convenient chair for both us. Yesterday, after the Adventist Jaundice check, I bring my wife and my son together to select the chair. After shopping at DSOP and Delta, we had made our decision to buy this chair.



The chair has at least 1 foot height to adjust, which make you suitable to use for several type of table height, especially my home dressing table was build without a safety standard height measure. The back bone support is using net that allow some fresh air to cool down your body, and the degree of slant can be adjustable as well. Arm rest height is adjustable, twist able and also able to adjust to the front and back for both side which allow the mother to have arm rest while doing breast feeding. Thick sponge good for maternity mom to sit on it and good to have wheel that allow the mother to perform diapers changing.



Been lost touch with my camera...miss him so much...

It was the greatest news of all.

I was on leave to bring my son and my wife to Adventist Hospital for check up. My wife was doing her follow up after deliver under Dr Low Chin Soon. Never in my mind, it happen that we met Pai Lim here again. Every time meeting her in Adventist, we always share ideas and learn something new from her experience. She is kind and willing to share her knowledge and experience with us. With her appearance, her encouragement, baby breastfeeding project is improving. Her encouragement helps my wife to improve and go on with her breastfeeding a lot. My wife often told me that she almost giving up breastfeeding for several time. But after getting the advise and encouragement from Pai Lim, she willing to push herself further. Thank you Pai Lim. At the same time, I would like to express my appreciation to Lee Chin, the nurse whom taking care of my baby during his admission on 12-10-2011. Finally I know this beautiful mother's name (Lee Chin). Thank you and thank you... (forgetful daddy forget to take sister Pai Lim picture together with baby...)



My wife recover faster than our expectation. Soon, we meet up with Dr Khaw Poh Guan, Consultant Paediatrician. Good news!!! Jaundice increase under control which is only 4 index from 219 (223). Baby starting to pass motion, 3 times a day and baby starting to gain weight, 3.07kg to 3.14 kg. I believe Chong Hee and us will work harder together as a family to heal. 1 family 1 heart, 1 direction, 1 love....

Joyful moment

It was another OT day again for me. Work late but still happy after work. Whenever we see the baby, all the stress at work will disappear and the harmonic moment will come to us. This is the greatest gift from my son to me. The home is even much happier and more people is visiting us. So happy to see all my relatives and friends calling us up to wish and also come to my house to pay us a visit.

During the medical check up yesterday, doctor says that the baby is in the abnormal condition where he has never answer the mother nature call for 4 days. They had apply some medicine on him for easy pass motion. It helps him to clear off his dirt from his body. But the baby should have to pass motion naturally, to overcome the abnormal situation. Today, when my wife call me up and told me that baby has already pass motion today.... which means he is back to "Normal".... That is the "joyful moment" in my heart, to know that my son is recovering....

Tomorrow we will be heading to Adventist Hospital again for the Jaundice Test.... Good luck my son.

This is the 3rd time of the day that my son pass motion. :D

Jaundice 219

To all the new parents, Jaundice is the most concern issue to a newborn baby. It will bring to brain damage or dead if we not really take good care of our baby. The 9th day of baby born, my wife went to the hospital again for the Jaundice test. Bills and bills on medical fees would have to pay. Koyak loh...

We have done whatever the doctor's advise, but the Jaundice index still keep increasing. Although the doctor said still under control but the worry is there when the index above 200. Hopefully my son will get well soon and back to normal. Now I can understand how important the word "normal" means a lot to us.

Was working OT today, back home late at night. Miss him so much.... have no mood to snap his photo but just wish to hug him with my heart.

8th Day of Confinement for Mei Nai

It is never an easy time to pass during the confinement, especially the first few days. If you were to ask me not to wash my hair for a day, I would have surrender. But my wife did it. Today is the 8th days of her confinement, can see that she is going through her tough time, yet she still happy with her daily life. It is tough for her to have sleepless night, but she will smile whenever she sees the baby. On 8th day onwards, my wife can have fish on her meal.... she enjoy eating the fish.

It was Jaundice test again.

Chong Hee doesn't seems to be good boy today. Wake everyone of us up in the middle of 2am until 7am in the morning. A sleepless night for the parents. After 2 days of breastfeeding practice, we finally make it to have 95% breastfeeding to the baby. Due to this, the baby already use to nipple bite. The reason that we do not have a good night sleep is because baby keep crying and he is asking for nipple bite to sleep. Without giving him the nipple bite, he keep waking us up. Many people will use soother or normally call "chut chut". It is not advisable to apply on a new born baby. Because when we inserted the soother into their mouth, they will suck harder and harder to get milk, when it is just a plastic device in their mouth to make them sleep. But when comes to the actual breastfeeding, the baby will suck as hard as possible, because they have train under "chut chut". Thus breast feeder mama will suffer from painful nipple during breastfeeding. Thus we ended the "chut chut" activity immediately.



However we starting to prepare ourselves to go to Adventist Hospital at 7am. Drove all the way to the hospital for Jaundice check up again. This time, baby give us a bother line score of 196.7, which is close to the dangerous zone, 200. According to the standard, Jaundice index below 200 is save, between 201 to 300 require to admit hospital for treatment, 301 to 399 require change of blood and 400 and above will cause baby permanent brain damage.






My son.... love him so much.... not to forget, I love my wife too :D


This is his first time meeting Boh poh. Boh poh is so happy playing with him.

Meeting Grandpa

Grandpa drove all the way back from KL to Penang just to see his newborn grandson, Chong Hee. Unfortunately that grandpa was busy with his work during the newborn of Chong Hee. And he was not able to be back to Penang to see him until a week later. After viewing the photos that uploaded into this blog, grandpa reply his email:

"Geram, wanting to hold him and kiss him when I go back this weekend on Friday. Looking forward anxiously to hug this little one, my lovely grandson. He is so cute, looks handsome like his grandpa."

Finally he has touched the soil of Penang, the island of Pearl and Oriental. Here is the photo of cute grandpa playing with his little one.
