The day has gone busy for the beginning of 2020. I was joining the new company for the new beginning for 2020. In this year, everyone was facing a very tough time as the Virus has hit the entire world. This photo capture just a day before the MCO was begun and everyone has rushing to the hypermarket to purchase all the necessity and prepare for the lock down. My diary begun from the this day.
MCO day 1 (18 March
2020)
person who ever touch the spot. Wearing a face mask could able to prevent the virus from spreading into our body and often use of hand sanitizer to wash our hands whenever come back from outdoor. Because of this deadly virus has transfer from overseas to Penang, our work place has also notify by government for operation shut down and requested us to work from home. And today was the 1st day of work from home.
Office PC was setup at
home to perform our task. I have purchased a new monitor and stand just in time
for this MCO used. 2 monitor screen + 1 small monitor as a complement of my
luxury office at home. While the 49” monitor is for my home base children to
have a little compliment when I need some concentration at work. It just
recalled my home base job back in year 2013.
MCO day 2 (19 March
2020)
I have been to the
market in the early morning to top up the raw material for 1 solid week, which
means 3 meals a day for 7 days and begun my home cook menu for my family.
Starting with the delicious breakfast.
MCO day 3 (20 March
2020)
Children have begun to
learn to self-entertain with karaoke session by their own. Learning the
modified song from the internet and cheer up the day. It is always a great
memory to document the sweet and cute moment of our children and play back when
we are away or after a long time to recall back our memories. That is also the
reason for me to start recording my moment at home for this MCO period.
MCO day 4 (21 March
2020)
Few years back I have
some plan for my home project, however I only manage to get project 1 and 2
done, which are: kitchen & back room cabinet renovation and air conditional
unit change over. This day I decided to begin my phase 1 home project, which
project 3 was part of it. After spend some time scouting around for the pallet
wood and dismantle before the MCO begun, now is the time to cut the wood into
sizes for project 3. Stay tune for the outcome of project 3 in the days to come
on my MCO dairy.
MCO day 5 (22 March
2020)
On this day, the
government has tighten the MCO control, whereby for the essential factory has
limit to 50% of the headcount is able to go to factory/office to work.
Therefore essential stuff like operator has to go to work while the office
labor is advised and work from home to retain the 50% headcount of a factory to
operate in the production. Office stuff require official letter from the
company with the 2D barcode printed is able to go to work. Enforcement
authority performed 100% screening on all vehicles crossing the boundary. As a
result, my partner was joining me at home become my war partner to battle for
the multitasking of work and taking care of children at the same time. It is always
tough for a thinker job and at the same time taking care of young children, the
distraction causing us to lost concentration. I am glad that she is joining me.
MCO day 6, (23 March
2020)
Other than the DIY
home project, I also intend to begin my own cookery menu to increase more tasty
dishes at home. The cooking menu also include several international menu to
spice up our life other than just the Chinese menu.
This MCO also give us a chance to close up our gap with our children. As of normal working life, we have not much time to spend with our children as we are working in the day and they were in the day care center. At night, we are busy cooking, cleaning, taking care of their work and update on our social media. Social media does not mean facebook; however it can be next planning of life, purchasing items from the net or looking out for information to improve our life style. During the MCO I have spent a lot of time on the internet to purchase hardware m
aterial for home renovation. It takes time to search, read, and understand before we purchase the raw material to ensure its quality and price deliver. This MCO also gives us a chance to spend more time with our children, even can have time to see “stars” at our bed time.
MCO day 7 (24 March
2020)
Due to the cluster is
around the corner in Penang, we were trying to go to the places where less
people will go and reduce the chances of contacting with possible Covid
carrier, therefore we have chosen Aeon. The goods are a little more expensive
but it worth the quality. It was my first time that buying groceries in Aeon
more than RM 300 and this supply will last us for another week.
MCO day 8 (25 March
2020)
If it is only a plan and we no action, that is bullshit! So we walk the plan. My first dish of the planned menu: Curry Chicken noodle. I have not cooked any curry menu since the first fail of curry chicken. This time finally we made another trial of curry chicken and I was proudly to announce that we successfully made it. The curry served well with the cintan instant noodle. During this MCO period, a lot of my facebook friends has become great chef and keep posting all kinds of food in the facebook and some even won some award from their home cook dish. However, we are more to lifestyle and I want a good life for my family.
Other than food, we also spent time with children on this day. Joining them to play pokemon rubber flip. Each of us has pokemon rubber on hand and each of us took turn to flip the rubber to sit on top of each other. Whoever sit on the pokemon rubber wins! No doubt I am always the looser for this game L! It was fun to be with them as always!
MCO day 9 (26 March
2020)
It has been part of my
dream to catch back my old day desire for having a console of my own in the old
days and enjoy the old day game such as Mario, Snow Bros, Ninja Turtle and so
on. As the technology move on, things has been simplified and old technology
price has gone down. Those days we have to purchase a console at RM 200
excluding the game card. Today, the console is sold at RM 40 include 600 games
with ¼ of the size of console 25 years back. And here we given them a chance to
experience 25 years game but with a much bigger TV. Nice Ninja Turtle game they
have there.
MCO day 10 (27 March
2020)
The day has become
bore, let’s spice up the life a little. I volunteered myself to act like a
Captain America but with a cooker lid on my hand act as the Captain America
shield! Go go go, Captain Je!
MCO day 11 (28 March
2020)
After becoming the
imitation of Captain America, I continued to cook American Breakfast for my
family members. American Breakfast or we name it as Big Breakfast was match
with the Gardenia bun, pan fried eggs, mushroom, sausages and yellow bean.
Start the day full with fuel could make your day energetic!
MCO day 12 (29 March
2020)
Since the MCO begun,
Dolgona coffee has becoming a trend. Everyone has a taste on it. A tea spoon of
coffee mix with sugar and 2 tea spoon of hot water. Stir for 400 times to make
it foam. Add in with cool milk and it is ready to serve. However, Je always do
something special than other people to make life interesting. I do love Irish
coffee wine as well, therefore I did a little modification on its recipe by
adding 2 tea spoon of whisky on it. Taste perfect!
Other than photographer, engineer, I am also a carpenter. I like DIY work and I love design as well. Took me few hours to cut, sanding and nail it down a simple rack to increase my cabinet storage space in my dry kitchen. This simple rack has extend a lot of my storage space.
MCO day 13 (30 March
2020)
Getting alcoholic
after drinking whisky Dolgona Coffee yesterday and intend to have something
special than yesterday. Testing a new recipe by using the lemonade alcohol
drink we bought last year on our Sabah Trip. Mix lemonade alcohol with sunquick
and real lemon, it was much tasty compare to pure lemonade alcohol. Chill up
before heading to bed. Enjoy day 13.
MCO day 14 (31 March 2020)
We have a number of
home grown at our backyard, a very small vege garden. We used to plant lady’s
finger and corn in those days and now we have change to sweet potato leaf and
it was time for harvest. This small bunch of sweet potato leaf was enough for
us to have a dish on the table for 4. Easy to grown, tasty to eat, easy to
cook! Nice!
MCO day 15 (1 April
2020)
2 weeks passed, it was
time for another round of raw material reloading. This time I have extra
loading for my parent’s share. Government has announce to only allow the Ketua
Rumah (family lead) to go out for essential goods purchase. While for me, I was
representing 2 families, my parents and my family to purchase the raw material.
These were the more than 30 kgs of raw material I purchased at once from the
market and I have to borrow the basket from the stall owner to deliver the raw
material to my car. Expecting to last for 1.5 weeks per family. It was not
advisable to deliver the goods into the car bit by bit as, I have to queue
again to go into the market.
Deliver to my parent’s home and my home then I was rushing to Aeon at Queensbay to continue another round of groceries. Due to the worrying pandemic, we were advised to bath and wash our clothes each time when we went home from groceries to avoid spreading of Coronavirus and all item purchased were sanitized as per surgeon SOP before store into the fridge. Therefore, in the marathon I went for the next round. We had a lot of salmon and milk during the Pandemic, the color of the salmon is very tempting for a salmon lover.
All groceries were inserted into a box for sanitation. Clean the table and divide it into sanitize and none sanitize table. Every single goods taken from the box was spray by 70% mix alcohol sanitizer, wipe and clean. Fruits like apples and oranges were wash with baby bottle cleaner detergent for 20 second. Clean the fruits with water, wipe and dry it before store into the fridge.
