On the 5th day of Chinese New Year, I had invited a group of 4 to go to Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson for a hike. I was eyeing on this unique landscape for quite some time and finally manage to plan out the time for the hike. The landscape almost look like an Island with a link bridge to the Island from the Google Map. The beautiful nature has a combination of crystal clear seawater, white rock, well preserved greenery, cave and the signature building of the light house.
Everything has set and I am ready to go for the hike. It took me around 2hrs to reach the Tanjung Tuan destination and along the way, I found that the adventure outdoor activities are developing at this area. It will be a great tourism destination in a year or 2.
We begun the hike together with Jia Ling, Dato and Ryan. It begun with tar road and we turned into jungle tracking at TNB pole A20. We started to moving downhill and reaching the Monkey Bay. The moment we reached the beach, the amazing crystal clear water starting to impress us with its natural beauty.
A few moments later, we continued our hiking to the next destination, the Bukit Batu Putih which means "White Rock Mountain". Hiked along the beach and moving upwards on the steep slop and finally we reached the tip of Bukit Batu Putih. We experienced the panorama view of Port Dickson. Fortunately not many people on this day, I believed it was due to the pandemic situation where the number of cases increasing high. Here we met a group of people from KL consist of 2 sisters and 1 brother, Uncle Lim 500. They were very consistent hikers. We grouped up and hike together along the trip.
After a cup of tea, we begun our journey to the Light House and then to the cave. We were following the information from a hiker to lead us to the caves, however we interpreted wrongly and lead us to the wrong direction. End, we reached another seaside with end of the road. However the group decided not to move but looking forward for a new trail. Uncle Lim 500 made an adventure and hike pass the rock on the sea and went up to the huge round and he found the path to go back to the trail. And the group followed. The mistake gave us a chance to discover another beautiful scene of Tanjung Tuan. The picture captured looks like we were capturing the MTV for a song.
We continued our hike all the way to the light house and then, there was a road on the left side the light house that lead us all the way to the downhill and reaching the cave. Also another input to this beautiful place is that the preserve land is one of the habitat for bird migration. Within January and March, 55 species of raptor bird will fly through Tanjung Tuan and migrate from Sumatera to Japan and South Korea.
Soon, we reached the end of the stairs feel the beach at Tanjuang Tuan at Pulau Intan. Turn to the right and walk along the beach we should be able to reach the cave. We were unfortunate that it was high tight at that moment and could not hike to the cave. Learn something on this day! We can't wait until afternoon to hike into the cave and we continued to carry on with our next activity, cooking branch.
Found a beautiful place with 2 rocks in between that can place my pot in between. Gather the firewood and start fire. Ryan brought "Low Sang" to bring up the Chinese New Year mood. It was nice to have something sweet and sour during the rest. It was refreshing. Boiling water with firewood to make coffee and cooking Maggi Mee is never taste the same at home. It was superb!
Washed the utensils with seawater. Of course we were not throwing the grey water into the sea but used it to put off the fire before leaving the place. It is important to allow the soil to filter the water before goes into the sea to avoid nature pollution. And it is also very important to ensure putting off the fire before leaving the place to avoid bush fire. Lastly, pack the rubbish and move out of this beautifully preserved land. It is very important and it is the responsibility for the hikers to bring out the rubbish.
This time the seniors (Uncle Lim 500) lead us the path to the Tanjung Tuan gate. We hike along the beach and really enjoy the view. We managed to see some cargo ships far away from the sea, it was huge and beautiful. Then at a junction we split, where we decided to take the short cut to the exit. However, the path was a little challenge as we needed to hike up to the light house and back down to the gate. While Uncle Lim 500 team was hiking downwards towards the gate. End we met at the exit of Tanjung Tuan.
This was a nice trip that made my Chinese New Year holiday so meaningful.
It is advised that hikers are responsible to make this place clean and beautiful. Cleanliness are responsibility from everyone of us. Rubbish should be packed and bring out of the preserved land and not leave at the preserved land. Take nothing but photograph and leave nothing but footprint. It is disgusting to see rubbish everywhere in such a beautiful preserved forest. And remember to put off the fire before leaving the premise. Let us work together to make Malaysia to become a beautiful place to live.
Nice review bro
