For the first local tour, we have made the decision last minute to go to Kuala Sepetang instead of grape farm in Gerik ni the initial planning. (Due to the farm has closed down). It is just perfect to go to Kuala Sepetang from Penang after lunch hour. It takes roughly half day to tour around the small city of Kuala Sepetang. The view is magnificent.
Of course we did visit the charcoal factory, which is the famous factory in Malaysia, a must go destination in Kuala Sepetang. The owner is friendly and explained the charcoal making process in detail to the tourist and best thing is, its free of charge. No entrance fees. The kids enjoy and they have gain some knowledge from throughout the tour.
Indeed, this is a nice place to perform pre-wedding photoshooting. The color tone is nice like the old railway station in Penang in previous. It is also nice to capture in black and white. Most of my family photos are capture as real as possible, even black and white pictures are straight out from my camera, social media so call "SOFC" meaning: straight out from camera. Here are some of my black and white collection. Am I an old timer? Always black and white.
The workers will insert the Mangroves wood (or Local dialect: Kayu Bakau) into the Chamber and height up the wood from the floor by putting on a stepping stone on the floor. This is the allow the wood moisture fully drain off from the wood for form charcoal. Charcoal knowledge was transfer from Japanese during the world war 2 and now Japan is buying most of the charcoal from Malaysia to perform bbq cooking in Japan. After all the wood has inserted into the chamber, the workers will seal the opening with bricks and cement. Then followed by starting up the fire to heat up and dry the wood.
Sealed!
The young photographer
How is my camera? Is the color looks good?
This place is interesting for photoshooting, especially for pre-wedding. Capture some of the images for reference on future used. Before leaving, lets get some photos for remembrance.
Please bring enough of water if you were to visit Kuala Sepetang. The place is quite hot. Drink a lot of water. Yes, we are greedy, everywhere we go, we are searching for local delicious delights. I am interested to try local delights. That is the specialty of Malaysia tourism, everywhere you go, there is always a tasty corner! yummy! A place not to miss, which is the noodle shop.
Food are so delicious until we forgot to take note on the shop's name.
Never forget to document your foodlicious before eat; I was too late to capture the picture and the food has been eaten. Luckily she capture it!
Curry mee

Ice blended red bean
Ice Kacang lah!
Last, our family photo before leaving the coffee shop!
Railway station in Kuala Sepetang has been shut down long ago, they only remain the front view of the KTM station for history purpose. Railway tracks had been destroyed! The remaining sigh gave us the creativity to pose for photos, and the children made the day!
Below is the main transportation in Kuala Sepetang. Small size vehicle to carry the fishery and the motor still maintain running to perform their job.
The colorful house in Kuala Sepetang
Something out of expectation. I have not expecting to visit this housing area; therefore it has became our unexpected discovery: The floating housing area. A nice discovery; however, just feel that Malaysian need to be more aware of the moral of cleanliness. It is very dirty, rubbish were thrown everywhere surrounding the house. Villager should aware that your contribution of rubbish will come to you at the end and that affect your life quality. Tourist only visit once in a life time, but you are the one living in this dirty environment. Keep Malaysia clean, keep you healthy.
Tractor bringing the steel rod for construction. An authentic tractor goes slow and steady, an open eye for the children.
Election was around the corner, Keadilan flags were everywhere on the fishing boat.
Almost every house own a boat here and their source of income are from fishery! It is something unusual for the city kids to explore. Best if we can have the chance to bring them to go on the boat and experience the fishing life... Too bad, they do not have this package for tour.
The floating house. This house was built on top of the sea and it is floating. During the high tight, the water splashed up to the walk way. The only gate to the walk way to the floating bungalow. A bungalow without the fence and garden :D.
Mark down the eagle eye seafood restaurant.
We bough the ticket with RM 100 for boat ride package and waiting for the boat to come. The package include:
Old village visiting (古老港)
Eagle watching
Sunset watching
Firefly watching
While waiting for the boat to arrive, the kids are entertaining me with their funny act. Although they were being naughty at all time, but there were memories, cute moment and sweet moment they created to us. Angry of their misbehave, but at the same time, they cute and entertaining us. Love being with them and all my holidays are much meaningful when they around.
Just can't wait for the boat arrival. Just as it arrived, we jumped into the boat and get started! Here is the wefie before the departure!
Enjoying the boat ride, chasing the wind and very soon we were reaching to the Old Village.
Kids don't lie! The face shows everything.
This is the village. The village has a distance of 200m only. Inside they have school, a church and the fishing village. Villagers are purely depend on fishing as their income. They depends on Solar energy to generate electric power in the day and diesel generator starts at 7pm at night. Water resource either from the main land or the rain water. We have taste the drink that made from rain water, the lion bit the tiger and the tiger bite the lion.
The walk way... nice and authentic... will be great to shoot portrait or pre-wedding here. Take your time and shoot at every corner of this place. Wait for the chance to come one day.
Tour guide.
This school has only 6 students and 10 teachers. You will get 1,2 finish very year and you can't ponteng sekolah (run away from school). The whole village is only 200m and your parents are just besides you at all time. All children in this village know to swim by self learn. No coach is require. The school has only 6 classrooms and a teacher hostel. Teachers usually will leave the school over the weekend to buy groceries and have some fun rather than staying in this school, unless you are doing the full time meditation :D.
Old wooden house on the sea and depending on solar system for electric energy. Survival skill and skill of killing bore must be very strong.
Simple lifestyle and neighbourhood friendly house.
The church without follower. The villager still maintain the church well for visitor to see.
As the sunset is coming, we were not able to go for the fish feeding, we have to leave the island for the eagles watching and the sunset.
Eagle hunting for dinner
The floating hotel, seems like is abandon... I am not sure is this still operating? but its a nice place for friends gathering.
All are excited to witness the sunset, to see the sun goes down to the sea. So, are you ready? 3 2 1 Go!
This is the last picture of Kuala Sepetang then we left for the fireflies watching before heading for dinner and go home. I was not able to snap the firefly picture from the floating boat, it requires a steady stand and long exposure to capture the scene. Still then for the next update!
